what to expect + frequently asked questions

Inquiry+booking

Whether you text me, call me, fill out the contact form, or send an email… I will be in touch within a few business hours to schedule a 15-minute phone call. On this call, I walk you through the experience, answer all of your questions, and get you booked with the $99-500 retainer fee.

If you’re someone who hates talking on the phone or can never seem to find a quiet moment for one, you can skip the phone call. Please read through our entire FAQ. Book your session right away here if you have no further questions.

Sessions occur on M, W, and F at our studio, located in Seattle near the Space Needle and Climate Pledge Arena.

Virtual consultation

After selecting your session date, you’ll get an email to set up a zoom or FaceTime chat with me to discuss wardrobe and go over the package options. We will set up your payment plan that day, if you’re like most clients who take advantage of monthly budgeting.

Don’t skip this consultation and do it early on in the process! You can set up as many consultations as you need in order to feel prepared.

pre-session payment plan

Most clients take advantage of a pre-session payment plan. It relieves stress the day of because you know what your goal is when designing your album. You also receive complimentary bonuses valued $99-400 for pre-paying a collection. Examples include headshots, 3 polaroid prints to take home the same day, adding the wet/ripped tank set, or upgrading to add the acrylic cover to your album.

Payment plans are at your own pace—whether automatic withdrawal or through email reminders to pay on your own.

You are not locked in to a collection by pre-paying for it. You can upgrade to a larger collection or use your credit to select items off the a la carte menu.

“I already loved my body before my session, but now I love it even more! Looking at my digital images and my folio images amazes me every time.”

arrival + photo session

Once you arrive at the studio, I’ll show you to the dressing room so you can set your things down. You can use the restroom and then we’ll look at what wardrobe items you brought from home.

You’ll receive 1-1.5 hours of hair and makeup styling at our studio with mimosa in hand (or another drink of choice—we’ll ask you before hand what you want to sip on!) You do not have to find your own makeup artist or do it yourself, we provide that service for you to help keep things simple and stress-free.

A photo session is normally 1.5-2 hours long with 3-5 outfits, including the white sheet set. If you selected the bonus option of the wet/ripped tank top, we’ll end with that!

I will pose you from head to toe and coach you through facial expression, so don’t worry about looking as awkward as you feel. There will likely be a lot of laughter, even though I don’t have jokes I do have a cute laugh that is contagious!

same day photo reveal + ordering appointment

We break for lunch for about 45 minutes while I whittle down your images to the best 50ish. There are a few great restaurants near the studio and we’ll send you off to eat there, or you can order takeout and eat in our studio kitchen and chat with me.

After lunch, we will look through your image gallery together, selecting your favorites along the way, and then design your album. Designing your album helps solidify your collection choice.

We’ll finalize your order and send you on your way— with you feeling more confident and comfortable in your body than you arrived that morning. Yay!

product delivery

Digital files are sent via an online gallery within a week of your session.

4-6 weeks after your session, your album and wall art will be shipped to the studio ready for pickup. Pickup normally happens at 5pm M, W, F.

You can also have your products shipped directly to you, but we do love to watch your face light up when you see your images in print for the first time. Also, delivering to the studio prevents theft, and I am able to inspect the products and reorder if they come damaged.

We recommend booking your session 6-8 weeks before you need any printed products.

“I think Amy could solve self-esteem issues around the world. I have never felt more beautiful and confident. The entire day was amazing. I’m so thankful to Amy and her team.”

  • Boudoir/Empowerment: “Boudoir” as a genre may seem unattainable for some, which is why we also call it empowerment photography. You can wear as much or little clothing as you’d like for a photo session with me. We do not offer couple’s sessions and focus on photographing women and non-binary people.

“Just Me”: a photo session with no makeup, no hair styling, and no retouching. All done in black and white, it is a shorter session and at a discounted rate.

Day at the Lake: These started out as photo sessions at Rattlesnake Lake, but have graduated to locations on the coast as well. Essentially, we bring boudoir to the water! It still includes hair and makeup styling.

Minis/Limited Edition: shortened sessions at a discounted rate. These are most recommended for past clients because it is not the full, luxury experience. Often, we will overlap clients so it is not as private, and you will have less time to “warm up”. Perfect for a quick pick-me-up and boost of confidence, though! We’ll announce these on social media and through our newsletter.

Headshots and personal branding: headshots are a pre-session payment bonus option if you just need a couple images. A personal branding session is for someone who needs multiple images for a website or social media.

  • We will show you your images same-day without any editing. It’s not as scary at it seems, I promise! Our goal is for you to be reminded of how beautiful you look just as you are. All of your final purchased images will receive editing based on your preferences.

We normally edit out “temporary” things like pimples, bruises, scratches, or redness. We CAN do some slimming in photoshop upon request, but with our posing and with good outfit selection, it is usually not necessary and we advise against it in our studio.

We offer additional retouching services on cellulite, stretch marks, and scars, but we always leave those decisions up to you and most clients choose to keep them in their photos. Editing out tan/sunburn lines is an additional $15 per image.

Reminder: you are enough. No matter your age, size, weight, skin color, and abilities, you are beautiful NOW and we want to emphasize YOUR unique beauty.

We all have our self-perceived flaws and insecurities thanks to societal pressures, so our mission through a boudoir session is to help you feel confident in your body, recognize your worth, and get in touch with your confident self.

  • I’ve found that most people hate being photographed because they never get good direction from the person behind the camera. I have photographed all sizes of bodies and you will not be the one person I cannot take a good photo of.

All the people on my website are just everyday people, not paid/professional models. Even I am awkward in front of the camera— It’s a strange experience! During your session, I teach you all the poses and can even physically move you if you feel like you aren’t “getting it”.

If you sincerely go through this experience and cannot find 10 images you like, we’ll have a discussion why, and decide what to do together.

  • Once you see your images, our hope is that you will fall in love with them and want to share them with the world. Unless we have your written permission via a model release, your images will forever remain private from any public forum.

You have the option to allow us to share anonymous images only, the most modest, or specific images. We can blur or add a bar across visible nipples, or crop images down to make them anonymous. You are allowed to change your mind at any time.

Your privacy, comfort-level, and trust is important to us.

  • I prefer no spray tans before your session, only because it can stain our white bedding and other furniture.

I recommend to avoid tan lines and sunburns if you don’t want to see them in your photos. We do edit your photos, but these things are much harder to edit out and smooth.

If you go to tanning beds for a medical reason, do not stop because of this photo session! Take care of your health, first.

  • Reach out to me on the contact form down below, send an email, or text 253-237-4084. We will set up a 15-minute call to go over all of the information, pricing, and availability with you and get you on our calendar.

Don’t like phone calls and feel like you have enough information after reading this FAQ? There is a link at the bottom of this page to sign up on your own.

Once you pay the session retainer, your date will be locked in and you’re good to go!

  • Our “Procrastinator” dates are the available session dates for the current or next month. If you don’t need a payment plan to make this experience happen for you, and you don’t have a special date in mind, definitely take advantage of a last-minute booking!

The offer will vary, so keep a lookout on our social media. Generally, it involves a reduced session fee.

  • I offer interest-free payment plans for up to 12 months before your session for collection purchases. I try and make pre-session payment plans simple and flexible to set up.

We will go over the collection options on our consultation call after booking.

Payment plans can be every week, every other week, or monthly. We can set it up to be an automatic withdrawal, but most people will opt for email reminders and manual payments for flexibility in case something comes up.

  • Our studio is located in Seattle, WA. We are only a few blocks away from the Space Needle in Lower Queen Anne (now called Uptown).

We also offer select locations for outdoor photoshoots on a limited yearly basis.

our address is: 117 1st Ave N Seattle, WA 98109

  • On your session day! We take a 45-minute lunch break after the photoshoot to give you some time to recoup some energy and eat. During that time, I cull through your beautiful images from your session and do minor color adjustments so I can show you the best 50.

After lunch, we start the selection and design process for your printed products, choose your collection, add any upgrades or wall art and finalize your order.

  • We send you a prep guide before your session that will go over all the details. It can be overwhelming, and nerves are completely normal but honestly, you just have to show up. The most important thing is to arrive to the studio on time with a bare face and clean, dry hair.

Take care of your skin as best as you can. Don’t do anything drastic a few days before like a facial peel you’ve never done.

Get lots of sleep and DRINK WATER! This will reduce dark circles/puffy eyes and reduce bloating.

Make sure to eat something light and filling in the morning!

Try not to stress (which I know is hard!) we have the best team and will take good care of you.

  • Most clients bring a mix of lingerie, bodysuits, button-up shirts, sweaters, undies, and whatever makes you feel like a badass. We also ask each of our clients to bring 1 nude thong and 1 black thong. We do have a few items in our client closet, which continues to grow. Jewelry is a great way to add some personality to your session, but we like to keep it simple and so more than one pair of shoes is unnecessary. Please avoid bringing props unless discussed beforehand.

You don’t need to bring any makeup, unless you have a favorite lipstick.

Cash for tipping the makeup artist and/or upgrading your collection during your ordering appointment.

  • Simple is best. Too much pattern or neon colors will take away from YOU! Simple bra/underwear set, bodysuits, button-down shirts, jeans, sweaters, and loose dresses that fall off the shoulder are some of the most popular outfits. We will never push you beyond your comfort zone, but most clients like to end the session with the white sheet set. We love it because you can be as modest or risqué as you’d like.

  • To help minimize the spread of Covid, we are generally limiting the number of people in the studio.

We often find that when there is an audience, you continue to stay in “giving” mode, considering their needs. We really want you to have fun and enjoy this time and not worry about entertaining a friend or performing for a partner. Our team are your cheerleaders today!

If you have a caretaker or service animal, let us know before your scheduled session so we can prepare.

Pets who are not registered service animals are not allowed in our studio.

Partners can drop you off to make sure you arrive safely. They are also allowed to join you for your photo reveal if they want to be involved in the process, but only AFTER we have made the majority of decisions based on the images YOU love.

  • This is a step you DON’T want to skip, unless we’re doing a “Just Me” session! Sitting down for hair and makeup goes miles to help settle your nerves upon arrival, and it will make you FEEL so pampered!

Even if you go SUPER natural, this time gives you the ability to unwind and get comfortable. Proper makeup application and hair styling saves us time during retouching, and most clients don’t even need additional retouching beyond removing blemishes away in photoshop.

If you have natural curly hair, let us know if you would like us to provide a hair stylist for you who specializes in your texture.

If you want something changed regarding your hair or makeup styling, do not be afraid to speak up. We know that feeling unlike yourself can make or break how you feel once you see your images.

  • We book 2-3 clients a week, and one client per day. The makeup artist and assistant is masked. Amy can be upon request. Social distancing is basically impossible during your photo session, so this is one we cannot work around unless we do an outdoor session. In the summer months, we keep our door open to circulate airflow. We sanitize all frequently touched surfaces and launder all sheets/outfits from the client closet. The makeup artist sanitizes all makeup brushes and makeup pallets.

We will reschedule your session if our team is feeling unwell, and expect you to reschedule if you have Covid, flu, or cold symptoms.

  • We have a separate session retainer from your prints and products. This retainer secures your date and will range from $99-500 depending on available promotions.

The retainer is non refundable and goes towards paying the stylist first and then helps cover other hard costs that make your session a positive experience.

  • Things come up, I get it. We offer one complimentary reschedule and then have fees that incur the closer you get to your session date. These fees are laid out in your agreement.

To cancel or reschedule your session, send me an email. Your session fee will not be refunded if you decide to cancel—I’d rather you rescheduled for a later date!

  • If you need an album by a certain date, I recommend booking 6-8 weeks before.

  • Our studio sessions are 5-6 hours long, starting at 10am and ending between 3-4pm. We recommend not booking anything else that day/night (other than a date) because you’ll be tired and we don’t want you to feel rushed to finish, in case we go late.

  • Our most popular printed products are albums. We also offer wall art, bedside prints, polaroid prints, and calendars. It takes anywhere from 1-6 weeks to receive printed products. Polaroid prints are instant, and you can take them home the same day!

  • if you have purchased digital files, we size them to 10” on the longest side, so you can print up to an 8x10”. I can recommend print labs if you want to print your images, but I also offer to do it! Because these are vulnerable images, I want to make sure the labs are reputable and will keep your images safe. Walgreens is probably not the best place to print boudoir photos, for example.

Anything larger than 10” is best to go through my professional lab so that quality is guaranteed!

  • If you have purchased the digital files, of course! Share away. Avoid adding filters to your images, and I would love to be tagged or mentioned. A tag is great because I can cheer you on, and if someone books from you sharing your experience, you get referral credit!

  • We keep the images on file that you have put into your album for safe keeping (bar a tech disaster), so if you know you want wall art, I recommend going on a post-session payment plan for them. We do offer flash sales once in a while… just email me to ask if I still have your images available and we can set up a consultation if you want to see them again but didn’t purchase the digital gallery.

  • You do not need to remove any head coverings for an empowerment session with us.

You can absolutely wear a wig. We do not generally style them, unless we have prior communication about doing so.

  • We ask that you shower before your session and also come with clean and dry hair. You do not need to shave, wax, or get your nails done. Every person’s comfort level and preference on grooming is different and we accept body hair here!
